Providing symmetrical high speed bandwidth via a robust and redundant network lies at the core of all our services. The Digital West backbone is built on several layers of technology – each selected to ensure maximum performance, service flexibility, and reliability.
Network Diversity
At Digital West, we secure our network with four diverse Fiber Optic entrances to our Data Center and use four major carriers for network redundancy. With 10s of Gigabit per second (Gbps) capacity to our major peering partners in San Jose and One Wilshire in Los Angeles, Digital West provides fail-over routing for all traffic running on our network to guarantee that your business stays online.
Carrier-Grade Ethernet Transport
Our backbone connections are built on the latest in carrier Ethernet technology. By standardizing backbone connections on Ethernet, we provide higher speed connections at lower cost while still providing the reliability and scalability that business customers demand.
Core MPLS IP Network
On top of our Ethernet transport we operate an MPLS IP network based on Juniper routers. On this platform we can provide full BGP feeds at any location we service and support both IPv4 and IPv6 on the same infrastructure. Additionally, MPLS allows us to provide layer-2 and layer-3 Managed Networks for businesses needing connectivity among multiple locations.
The interface with other carriers bit can be “cloudified” — we can interface our MPLS Managed Networks with those of other carriers to provide the ultimate seamless network. Given our carrier neutral status and multiple POP locations, we can assist you in choosing the proper technologies from any carrier. Then we can provide any “glue” needed to tie together all your network resources and maximize the value of your business’ network expenditures.
Data Center Distribution and Aggregation
All of our data center connections are based around dual-redundant pairs of routers and layer 2/3 switches. Depending on your bandwidth and failure protection needs we can provision anything from a simple 100 Mbps fast Ethernet connection with static routing up to multiple GigE connections each with diverse BGP sessions. Billing for bandwidth can be flat-rate or metered (95th percentile) to match your needs. Also available are security solutions ranging from a basic packet-based filter up through complete managed firewalls.
